Can I use acid stains for coloring Pal Tiya Premium?
Yes, acid stains can be used with Pal Tiya Premium. The surface must be perfectly clean before application. Afterwards the sculpture must be rinsed with water and the acid stains *must* be neutralized completely, per the manufacturer's instructions. This prevents the acids from continuing to eat away at the surface.
We have used acid stains on PTP. The preparation, the careful use, and neutralization are a pain in the ass, and the results are always blotchy. On the opposite side the colors can be quite intense and last a very long time outdoors.
